The overarching goal of EMATHS focuses on teachers learning the aligned content, pedagogy, and embedded use of technology needed to aid their students in attaining the level of mathematic knowledge necessary to meet Michigan's new high school graduation requirements.
To achieve this goal, EMATHS is currently:
Developing units of study and benchmark assessments aligned with the Michigan Merit Curriculum for Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry and the Common Core State Standards
Designing models of professional development embedded with the use of technology for mathematics teachers to successfully implement course/credit requirements
Creating a school culture focused on high levels of academic achievement by establishing professional learning communities based on Lesson Study protocols
To further that goal, the next steps will be:
Developing online professional development courses in Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry
Writing facilitator guides for the Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry workshops
